Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. - Isaiah 5:20

UPDATE:

Thanks to everyone who participated in Supreme Shift. We are believing great and awesome things have been set into motion because God's people prayed. We want to encourage you to keep praying for our Supreme Court as part of your regular prayer time.

SUPREME SHIFT OVERVIEW:

Bound4LIFE Canada is calling a 40 week fast - every Monday from March 21 to December 19 - believing God for a shift to righteousness and true justice in the Supreme Court of Canada. We believe the Supreme Court is on God's heart, and that it is a pivotal part of seeing abortion end in Canada.

BACKGROUND - WHY NOW?:

The Supreme Court of Canada is the highest court in the land; it has the final say on the law and its decisions effect the entire nation. It has the power to tear down laws, as it did in 1988 when it declared Canada's abortion laws unconstitutional and left Canada with virtually no laws or restrictions on abortion. The effect of that decision echoes today.

The Court is made up of 9 judges who are appointed by the Prime Minister of Canada. They sit on the Supreme Court until they retire. They may choose to retire early, but all must retire when they turn 75.

As of December 2011, 8 out of 9 judges will be eligible to retire with full pensions. Within the next 5 years, 4 judges will turn 75 and must step down and be replaced.

This means that within the next few years, Canada may see an entirely new Supreme Court. The Supreme Court WILL shift either way, but we believe that with fasting and prayer it will be a shift towards LIFE.

PREVIOUS LIFE DECISIONS BY SUPREME COURT:

In 1988, the Supreme Court ruled in favour of Henry Morgentaler and struck down all laws and restrictions on abortion.

In 1989, the Supreme Court ruled that a biological father has no right to or say in whether his unborn child is aborted or not.

In both 2001 and 2003 respectively they ruled to keep euthanasia and assisted suicide illegal by upholding Robert Latimer's murder conviction (he killed his disabled daughter in a self-proclaimed "mercy killing") and by ruling against Susan Rodriguez's "right" to die by assisted suicide.

In 2008, they voted to give Henry Morgentaler the Order of Canada for his promotion of "women's health" - the highest honour a Canadian civilian can receive.

In 2010 they struck down parts of Canada's Assisted Human Reproductive Act, specifically the areas dealing with cloning, animal-human hybrids, and savior-siblings, ruling that it was up to each province to decide how to deal with these issues rather than the federal government. This means that whichever province is the most lenient will set the pace for the rest of Canada, rather than having a standard that every province must follow.

In 2011 they will be ruling on various freedom issues to do with LIFE, as they review Linda Gibbons case. Linda Gibbons is a grandmother who has spent more time in jail than many convicted murderers simply for violating Toronto's bubble zone laws and standing in prayer with a sign outside of an abortion clinic.

JOIN THE FAST:

Email shift@bound4life.ca to let us know you are joining us. We encourage you to join as individuals, church groups, and prayer groups.

You can fast for the whole day or one meal, it is up to you.

PRAYER POINTS:

1) Pray for the Prime Minister of Canada - that he will have wisdom and discernment and will appoint the right judges.

2) Pray for the current judges. Pray that they will either turn towards God if they have not already, or choose to retire early. Pray for the current judges whose hearts are towards God, that they would have courage to stand up for LIFE.

3) Pray for the upcoming judges. Pray for the judges that will be appointed, that those seats would be reserved for the ones God is raising up, and that God would raise up mighty men and women of God who will judge rightly and fairly.

You can also do a 10 week rotation, praying for the Prime Minister one week and then a different judge/seat for 9 weeks, then repeating. Click here to go to the Supreme Court website and see who the 9 judges are.
